Alaska
- ACAT was founded in 1997 by research biologist Pam Miller to help aid Alaskan individuals against environmental pollution and ensure justice, with focus on St. Lawrence Island’s military pollution.

- Many national parks, wildlife refuges, and nearly two-thirds of Alaska’s population resides within the Cook Inlet watershed, the Cook Inletkeeper is pushing for renewable energy as opposed to oil and gas.

- With focus on protecting the lands, waters, and climate the Center for Biological Diversity believes in securing the future for all species on the brink of extinction through science, law, and media.
- The Grand Canyon Trust’s mission is to safeguard the wonders of the Grand Canyon, while supporting the rights of its Native peoples.

- AEDA is a watchdog site for Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) supplying Arkansans with knowledge of environmental law, policies, permit activity, and science.
California
- EYCEJ works with the communities that have been impacted by industrial pollution in LA and Long Beach.
- CBE’s mission is to provide residents in heavily polluted urban communities skills to successfully confront threats to their health and well-being.

- ICL strives to protect Idaho’s wilderness and strengthen rules and regulations that directly correlate to air and water quality, public lands, and human health.
- Snake River Alliance is Idaho’s nuclear watchdog and clean energy champion striving for an environment free of nuclear waste and contamination.
Illlinois
- CEJN is a network of environmental justice organizations that use transformative campaigns, policy advocacy, and community-based education to change current environmental standards.
- In an area of contamination dubbed the “Toxic Donut”, PCR’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for people affected by environmental pollution with priority to residents of public housing and environmental justice communities.

Louisana
- Rise St. James is faith-based a grassroots movement in St. James Parish with focus on environmental pollution due to petrochemical industries.
- Just as the name states, Stop Formosa Plastics urges Louisiana to change its permitting and not allow Formosa to build yet another plant in St. James Parish.
- Using grassroots actions, Louisiana Bucket Brigade is holding the petrochemical industry accountable for its pollution.
- Healthy Gulf is pushing to reverse the exploitation of the Gulf of Mexico’s natural resources.
- CCSJ advocates for the health and safety for all residents of St John the Baptist Parish by holding the government and industry accountable for their pollution.
- Though no longer an active music festival, Voice of the Wetlands was a “musical plea” about the fragile eco-system of the wetlands.

Maryland
- MDEHN’s mission is to promote the elimination of exposures to environmental threats to improve human health.
- Beyond Nuclear strives for a future with no nuclear power or weapons and searches for sustainable alternative sources.
- Blue Water Baltimore focuses on four main pollution sources; toxic, trash and litter, stormwater runoff, and sewage.
- As the leading legislative watchdog in Annapolis, Maryland LCV is known for their environmental scorecards and keeping pro-conservational candidates in office.
Massachusetts
- ACE is a neighborhood based, environmental justice and transit-oriented development nonprofit.
Michigan
- DWEJ’s primary focus is to ensure environmental justice is priority and to address environmental issues many Detroiters face.
- Playing a role in most of Michigan’s environmental laws, EMEAC has been fighting for environmental justice for over 40 years.
- MEJC hosts the Environmental Justice Summit every 2 years and strives for a better Michigan for residents affected by inadequate environmental policies.
Minnesota
- EJCC (a small subgroup of Environmental Initiative) believes in “eradicating environmental and economic injustices in Minnesota and beyond.”

- The Steps Coalition believes neighborhoods should be involved in the decision-making process for the future of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Missouri
- MCE is an independent environmental nonprofit focusing on issues that affect Missouri’s water, air, food, and environment.
Montana
- As Montana’s environmental watchdog, MEIC has been monitoring federal agencies since 1974 and works with mass media to raise public awareness.
- The Northern Plains Resource Council believes in protecting Montana’s water, land, air, and working landscapes while supporting a stable and healthy farm and ranch economy.
- Montana Conservation Voters supports leaders who uphold the rights for clean air, water, and public lands in Montana.
Nebraska
- As a state affiliate of Bold Alliance, Bold Nebraska prides itself on the strong alliance of farmers, ranchers, Tribal Nations and citizens that fight for protecting water, land, and the Good Life.
Nevada
- PLAN works with communities in Nevada to help the people and the planet by focusing on civic engagement, economic justice, and environmental justice. Three subgroups that were created because of PLAN: Nevadans Against Fracking, The Navada Conservation League, and The Great Basin Water Network.
New Hampshire
- With multiple films including the 2019 Eclipse Award nominee film “PFAS Community” and short film “Bad Water. Small Town. Def Ears.” Merrimack Citizens for Clean Water is tackling the PFAS crisis in New Hampshire.
New Jersey
- ICC helps identify issues for the community of Ironbound by creating housing to lower income families, providing after school programs for children, and fighting for environmental justice. The film “The Sacrifice Zone – A Documentary” focuses on one of the most toxic areas in America, the neighborhood of Ironbound.
- NJEJA focuses on the cumulative impacts of air pollution, energy, climate change, and environmental justice for all of New Jersey.
New Mexico
- Providing free or low-cost legal services, New Mexico Environmental Law Center is a non-profit public interest firm that helps the state with a wide variety of environmental issues.
- Empowering disenfranchised communities in the Southwest United States to realize racial and gender equality and social and economic justice” is SWOPs mission. Current film in progress: “Kirtland jet fuel spill”.
- WildEarth Guardians help protect New Mexico’s wildlife, land, and rivers by standing up against fracking, oil and gas industry, mining, and animal exploitation.
New York
- Considered one of the leading forces in the national Environmental Justice Movement, WE ACT works with communities of color and/or low-income residents to ensure they are a part of the decision-making process for their health and community.
- For over 30 years NYC-EJA has been on the forefront of environmental justice for New York with projects spanning from waste equity, waterfront justice, air quality and much more.
North Carolina
- Clean Water for North Carolina believes water should be protected by empowered educated communities and the government should be publicly accountable for it’s actions.
- NCEJ believes in “promoting health and environmental equality for all people of North Carolina through community action for clean industry, safe workplaces and fair access to all human and natural resources.”
North Dakota
- Originally responding to the impacts of coal development, DRC is a grassroots organization focused on responsible development.
Ohio
- OEC has led many of the environmental policy changes in Ohio, focusing on clean energy, land, water, and air.
- EHW is the longest standing environmental justice organization in Ohio helping create healthy homes, people, and communities.
Oklahoma

- OEC is a membership-based nonpartisan nonprofit that promotes transparency and has helped protect water, air, and land in Oregon since 1968.
- Helping communities across Oregon, Beyond Toxics tackles pesticide pollution, environmental justice, and demands that the government upholds a strong health criteria.
Pennsylvania
- The vision PennFuture sees for Pennsylvania is clean air, water, and land preservation, communities engaging in responsive democracy, and a carbon neutral economy.
Rhode Island
- The EJ League is “an alliance of individuals and organizations working together to promote environmental justice in Rhode Island through advocacy, education, networking, organizing, and research.”
South Carolina

- DRA promotes a healthy community that advocates for a resilient agriculture system, protects environmental resources, and empowers people to create change in policy to protect South Dakota for future generations.
- By obtaining grants through the US EPA and working in conjunction with the Land and Natural Resources Committee in South Dakota, CRST DENR is able to enhance the state’s efforts to clean superfund sites, work brownfields projects, protect air quality, address landfill issues and more.
- The Black Hills Clean Water Alliance focuses on preventing destructive mining in the Black Hills and protect its most valuable resource, water.
Tennessee
- The TCWN advocates for strong water protection policies, public participation in water protection, and addresses community water concerns.
Texas
- TEJAS provides air monitoring for community research, toxic tours, and educates the public on Houston’s pollution. 2022 short films include “Manchester Flare 2022”, “TPC Flare”, & “Independent Texas Recyclers Fire”
Utah
- For 25 years HEAL Utah has protected communities from air and radioactive pollution, advocated for an inclusive clean energy future, and has created community-driven policies through volunteer action.
